Doctors in India are concerned about a new virus known as tomato flu, which has afflicted scores of youngsters.
The infection was discovered in the southern state of Kerala in May, and it is believed to be a new sort of hand, foot, and mouth disease.
Experts are also investigating if this is the result of a mosquito-borne illness, but they have not ruled out the possibility of a completely new cause of the sickness.
Since May, 82 children under the age of five have been diagnosed with tomato fever, and another 26 children aged five to ten are suspected.
The infection was named for the painful red blisters that appeared on the patient’s body and progressively expanded to the size of a tomato.
In addition to a high temperature and significant joint pain, most patients suffer weariness, sickness, and diarrhoea.
Doctors warn the new virus is very infectious and that if the present outbreak is not contained, it might spread to the adult population.
This comes while the globe is still dealing with the Corona pandemic and a global epidemic of monkeypox.
