The leaders of the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany are meeting to discuss Iran’s nuclear programme.

The presidents of the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany talked about ways to revive the 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran, according to a statement from the White House on Sunday. This includes the ongoing debates about Iran’s nuclear programme, the requirement to step up support for Middle Eastern allies, and joint efforts to deter and rein in Iran’s destabilising regional activities.

Regarding the discussions between US Vice President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the White House made no more comments.

The European Union and the United States announced last week that they were assessing Iran’s response to what they described as their final proposal to revive the accord, under which Tehran committed to curtail its nuclear programme in exchange for relief from economic sanctions.

The possibility of a new regional crisis would increase if the nuclear talks break down, as Israel has threatened to use military force against Iran if diplomacy is unable to stop it from developing nuclear weapons.
Tehran has warned Israel with a terrible backlash despite long-standing denials of any ambitions.

Former US President Donald Trump pulled out of the nuclear agreement made before he entered office, alleging that he was too lenient with Iran. He also re-imposed harsh US sanctions on the Islamic Republic, which led it to start violating the agreement’s uranium enrichment restrictions.

The leaders of the US, UK, France, and Germany are gathering to talk about Iran’s nuclear programme.
