A automobile accident in southern Algeria killed and wounded 15 persons.

The Algerian Civil Protection revealed the deaths of nine people and the injuries of six others as a result of a traffic accident in the country’s south, noting that the accident was caused by a collision between a bus transporting workers and a fuel truck on a national road, 185 kilometres from the municipality of Bordj Omar Idriss in the state of Illizi.

According to the Civil Protection, the incident occurred on Saturday evening, and Algerian officials had installed hundreds of cameras to monitor traffic violations in order to decrease accidents, which have been on the rise for years.
On Saturday, Algeria’s General Directorate of Civil Protection announced the deaths of 27 people who drowned within 48 hours.

According to the directorate, 14 deaths happened on prohibited beaches, while 5 deaths occurred outside of Civil Protection Services operating hours.
The deaths occurred in the governorates of Ain Temouchent (3), Mostaganem (3), Tipasa (4), Algiers (3), Boumerdes (3), Skikda (3), Bejaia (2), Chlef (2), Oran (1), Annaba (1), and El Tarf. (1), as well as a juvenile who died in a valley in Skikda.

This comes at a time when traffic accidents have killed 8 people and wounded 523 others to varying degrees in the same time frame.
