Jordan is the first Arab country to invest in and produce renewable energy.

In terms of installed renewable energy capacity and energy generated, Jordan is ranked first in the Arab world.
The energy generated from all installed renewable energy projects reached about 5. 5 terawatt-hours at the end of 2021, in terms of installed renewable energy sources without taking hydropower into account, according to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), placing Jordan third in terms of energy production behind Egypt and Morocco.

It is significant to note that the ministry’s strategy seeks to diversify energy sources and forms by expanding the exploitation of renewable energy sources, expanding the exploitation of oil shale to produce oil and generate electricity, and developing exploratory areas for conventional and unconventional oil and gas exploration. This is due to the fact that there are seven wind energy companies and 22 energy companies all under one roof.

The first Arab nation to invest in and produce renewable energy is Jordan.
