The Iraqi Ministry of Health announced today, Sunday, that four bodies and six neighbourhoods with various injuries were recovered from the rubble of the (Imam Ali Qattara, peace be upon him) shrine in the city of (Karbala), a portion of which collapsed yesterday, Saturday, following the collapse of a dirt hill adjacent to it.
In a statement, the ministry stated that these are the current fatality tolls, emphasising that all injured persons have been brought to hospitals for adequate medical assistance.

Earlier in the day, Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi directed the Minister of Interior to promptly monitor and follow up on the shrine collapse investigation, as well as to deploy civil defence and health services to ensure the safety of the injured.
The Iraqi Civil Defense Directorate stated earlier in the day that the saturation of the dirt mound with rain led it to collapse on the adjoining shrine, resulting in its roof toppling on tourists.
