Study: Corona infection has been related to brain abnormalities.

According to a study conducted by the University of Oxford, those who have infected the coronavirus have an increased risk of neuropsychiatric diseases such as psychosis, seizures, and dementia two years following infection.

Anxiety and despair were more prevalent following corona infection, according to a research published in the Lancet Psychiatry journal, but they generally faded after two months of infection.

The findings have important implications for patients and health services because they indicate new cases of neurological conditions associated with COVID-19 infection that are likely to occur long after the epidemic has subsided, said the study’s lead author, Paul Harrison, Professor of Psychiatry.

The researchers compared the chances of 14 different illnesses in about 1.25 million patients, ranging from toddlers to the elderly, who were largely in the United States two years after corona infection, to the computerized data of over 1.25 million persons with other respiratory infections.

The researchers discovered that children who were infected with corona were more likely to have epilepsy or seizures (260 out of 10,000) within two years than those who acquired another respiratory illness (130 out of 10,000). Although it is still uncommon, the likelihood of acquiring a mental condition has grown (18 in 10,000).
