Russian Federation… The new Sakhalin-2 project’s operator begins operations.

On Friday, the new operator of the Russian gas project Sakhalin-2 stated that it had officially begun the project’s production and commercial operations.

The new operator of the Sakhalin-2 project began his job linked to the project on August 19, 2022, the business said in a statement.

The property, rights, and liabilities of Sakhalin Energy, the operator of the Sakhalin-2 project (liquefied natural gas project), have been transferred, according to the Russian firm.

Employees of Sakhalin Energy have also been moved to the strength of the new firm, although their previous rights to social security and bonuses have been preserved, according to the corporation.

In reaction to Western sanctions against Moscow, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree at the end of June taking special measures in the energy sector and nationalizing the Sakhalin Energy corporation to become the property of the Russian government.

Prior to the decision to nationalize, the oil corporation Royal Dutch Shell held a 27.5 share in the project, while two Japanese businesses, Mitsubishi and Mitsui, each held a 22.5 stake.
