With a 4/1 victory against host Monaco in the third round on Saturday, Lens established a brief lead in the French Football League.
Luis Obenda and Diver Machado scored for Lance in the seventh and 38th minutes, respectively, while Benoit Badiashili equalised for Monaco in the 41st minute.
Lance’s third goal came in the second half on a penalty shot by Seko Fofana, and Wesley Saeed added the fourth in the 78th minute.
Monaco had been down to 10 men since the 72nd minute, when Van Anderson was sent for a second yellow card.
Lance extended his lead to seven points, one point ahead of runner-up Paris Saint-Germain, who hosts Lille on Sunday.
Monaco’s lead was reduced to four points in ninth place.
Lance is presently in first place in the French league.
