Knox, a 22-year-old business student, was killed.

FIU coach Mike MacIntyre posted on social media, “Words cannot describe our profound sadness at the death of our comrade and friend, Luke Knox.” I had the pleasure of coaching Luke at both Ole Miss and Florida International. While I appreciated his football enthusiasm, I will remember him for his true love for his family and teammates.
Knox’s death was reported late Wednesday to FIU athletes.

On Thursday, the teams’ practise was cancelled, and grief counsellors were brought in to talk with them and other members of the campus community.
You have such a passion for life and the game of football, FIU quarterback Gunnar Holmberg remarked on social media Thursday. Never fail to put a smile on the faces of people around you. I appreciate the time we spent together. There are no words to explain how much you will be missed.
