Seoul: Pyongyang’s denuclearization is necessary to achieve peace

South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeol emphasised the need of North Korean disarmament in order to establish permanent peace on the peninsula, in Northeast Asia, and across the world.
The proposal would greatly enhance North Korea’s economy and people’s life in stages if it halts nuclear development and really and objectively embarks on disarmament, South Korean President Moon Jae-in said in words cited by the South Korean News Agency on Monday.

We will carry out a large-scale food programme, aid with power generation, transmission, and distribution infrastructure, and carry out programmes to improve ports and airports for international commerce, he continued.

Yul also offered to help boost North Korea’s agricultural productivity, modernise its hospitals and medical infrastructure, and implement international investments and financial support initiatives in it, pointing to the country’s various challenges, such as achieving financial safety and providing assistance to those affected by the deadly floods that hit the country last week, as well as overcoming the country’s deepening polarisation and social division.
