French scientists: monkeypox can be eradicated at 60 degrees Celsius

French virologists have revealed that monkeypox virus particles become unable to survive when heated to a temperature of 60-70 degrees Celsius, during a period ranging from 5 minutes to 15 minutes.

The researchers explained that this matter must be taken into account when performing the sterilization of medical facilities and devices, and according to the Russian TASS news agency, the outbreak of monkeypox prompted scientists to discover the speed at which its particles become unviable, and in order to achieve this, the researchers infected several different cell cultures European and African strains of monkeypox, and in addition, they prepared a solution containing the virus and heated it to high temperatures.

The study showed that the virus loses its ability to survive after 5 minutes when heated to 70 degrees Celsius, and it loses that ability after 15 minutes of heating it to 60 degrees Celsius.

And the experts said: “Our experiments have shown that monkeypox virus is highly sensitive to temperature change, and the results of our experiments will help clinicians to improve protocols for sterilizing devices and facilities, and will also allow us to begin to study how long this virus can remain alive outside the human body or Primates.

According to scientists, all this gives rise to hope for the development of analogues of vaccines based on weak particles of this virus, which were used in the past to protect the population from infection.
