Terrorists attacked an army checkpoint in the Harnai district of the southern Balochistan province, killing at least two Pakistani troops and injuring numerous more.
According to an Army Information Service statement, the gunmen attacked an army checkpoint and used light and medium weapons, resulting in a fierce exchange of fire that killed two servicemen and injured others.
Army backup troops arrived in the region and clashed with the gunmen, who fled to neighbouring mountains, where the forces pursued them, killing a large number of them while the others managed to hide within these mountains, according to the statement.
The Balochistan region is witnessing a series of attacks, most of which are claimed by the Balochistan Liberation Army (a terrorist organisation in Pakistan and a number of other countries), which calls for the region’s independence from Pakistan, as this organisation conducts operations against the army as well as Chinese installations throughout the country.
