Russian Security: Thwarted A Terrorist Attack In The Lipetsk Region

According to Russia Today, the Russian Federal Security Service claimed in a statement today that its operatives were able to disrupt a terrorist operation planned to take place in public gathering areas in the Lipetsk region of central Russia. According to Russian intelligence, three Ukrainian residents were located and detained in the hamlet of Goritsy, Dubrovsky district of the Lipetsk region, owing to inquiries and investigations: a male born in 1988 with a history, and two women born in 1986 and 1978.

According to the Russian security statement, three men were members of a sabotage group formed by the Ukrainian organisation “Right Sector” under the supervision of the Ukrainian Security Service, and they infiltrated into Russian territory with the intention of detonating high-powered explosive devices in public gathering places in Lipetsk.

Russian security forces discovered components used in the manufacturing of explosive devices, as well as methods of contact and correspondence between terrorists and their Ukrainian superiors.

The statement went on to say that the investigation into the inmates is still underway, and that at the conclusion of it, charges will be filed against them and they will be brought to justice.
